About Chippenham & District Artists
We are a friendly group who enjoy creating art and being with like-minded people. The group is open to all people whether a beginner or an expert and they can receive help and encouragement from other members.
There is a regular programme of meetings and workshops as well as other activities. We run exhibitions about twice a year to give our members the opportunity to exhibit and/or sell their work.
If you’re interested in joining you can come along to one of our next sessions to see if you like it, or contact us here.
Bob Rudd, President
Bob Rudd is a respected, nationally recognised and gifted local artist who lives and works in Chippenham. He studied at the Bath Academy of Art and became a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1995. He has exhibited extensively at galleries in London and throughout Britain, including solo exhibitions in London, Edinburgh and the Scilly Isles, collecting prestigious awards along the way.
One of his recent awards was The Turner Watercolour Award which he received at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) annual exhibition in the Mall Galleries, London. His work is also displayed in public and corporate collections including the new parliamentary buildings at Westminster and the House of Lords.
Bob Rudd is a painter of landscapes and buildings. He is a colourist and enjoys inventing the colour schemes and tonal arrangements that make his work so vibrant and exciting.
Although he is a busy professional artist, Bob agreed to attend the two annual CDA exhibitions and also the monthly Sunday demonstrations when time allows. This is an exciting new focus for the group. Members have been delighted that Bob is ‘so unassuming and approachable’, taking a real interest in their work and happy to talk about his own approaches and to pass on advice and knowledge. His enthusiasm about colour and composition is infectious. He has also agreed to feature in our literature and publicity material which will result in raising our profile, retaining and attracting new members.
Since he has become President, Bob has joined members at a Sunday meeting to introduce himself and explain how important it is to paint, to experiment and to persevere with art in all its forms. He chatted about his style of working and answered queries about tips and techniques.
We feel honoured to have Bob, such an inspirational artist as our President.
